Welcome to Tokyo University of Science Research Portal
Tokyo University of Science (TUS) was founded in 1881 by a group of young scientists who had graduated with bachelor’s degrees from Tokyo University, under the name “Tokyo Butsurigaku Koshujo” (Tokyo Academy of Physics). Over its 130-year history, it has evolved into the largest university of science and technology in Japan. TUS has four campuses with seven faculties 33 departments for undergraduates and seven graduate schools and 30 departments for graduates. Upholding the founding spirit of "Building a Better Future with Science" and the educational policy of "Achieving Excellence", a commitment to supplying society with graduates of real and valuable capability, TUS has embraced the educational and research philosophy of "Innovation in Science and Technology for Sustainable Development".
TUS has established a long-term vision called "TUS VISION 150" that outlines the university's ideal state in the year 2031, when it celebrates its 150th anniversary. The aim of this vision is to see TUS grow from being a university that supports the development of Japan into a university which helps in building our global future. In order to realize the VISION, TUS is devoted to encourage unique researches that are characteristic of TUS, improve the research facilities and functions including organizational changes, and provide study results which will benefit the society.
