note = "Funding Information: A joint international conference of the 3rd International Solar Fuels Conference (ISF-3) and the International Conference on Artificial Photosynthesis-2019 (ICARP2019) was held during the period of 20–24 November 2019 in Hiroshima, Japan ( http://photoenergy-conv.net/ICARP2019/ ). This conference (ISF-3/ICARP2019) combines two conferences in the series of ISF and ICARP. The ISF conference was first held in Uppsala, Sweden, in 2015 organized by Profs. Stenbj{\"o}rn Styring and Peter Lindblad, followed by the second one in San Diego, USA in 2017 organized by Profs. Clifford Kubiak and Stephen Mayfield, and now we had the third one. The first ICARP was held in Awaji-Shima Island, Japan in 2014, and the second one was held in Kyoto, Japan in 2017, and both were chaired by Prof. Haruo Inoue who led a Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) grant project “All Nippon Artificial Photosynthesis Project for Living Earth (AnApple)” supported by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) of Japan during the fiscal years 2012–2016. Thus, ICARP2019 was also the third one in this series. The ISF-3/ICARP2019 was chaired by Prof. Jian-Ren Shen who leads a JSPS KAKENHI grant (in Scientific Research on Innovation Areas) project “Innovation for Light-Energy Conversion (I 4 LEC)” supported by MEXT during the fiscal years 2017–2021, with co-chairs, Prof. Kazunari Domen and Prof. Akihiko Kondo.
