We have been extensively investigating nanolayer thermoresponsive polymer-grafted interfaces for biomedical applications. In this report, we briefly summarize recent findings of thermoresponsive nano-interfaces as microfluidic valve systems and interactions of biomolecules on their surfaces. PIPAAm-grafted layers on capillary lumens prepared by electron-beam-irradicated polymerizations induced complete on-off regulations of capillary flows with step temperature regulations. On the other hand, PIPAAm-grafted capillaries prepared by atom transfer radical polymerization, showed differential interactions with biomolecules.
