The current advancements in the sub-orbital flights facilitated to go on voyage to space, but the launch cost has been a major concern. For reusable space transportation, safe recovery of the rocket is a vital issue. Since 2005, Kyushu Institute of Technology has been conducting research on unmanned rockets called WIRES (WInged REusable Sounding) 1∼3) . The objective of WIRES is to reach an altitude of more than 100km and return to Earth safely by using autonomous guidance and control. Since 2008, the authors have been designing and developing small-scale experimental winged rockets. In this paper, the design, development, ground combustion test results of WIRES#014-3 are discussed.
