Micron-resolution shear stress imaging

抄録

In this research, we have investigated flow-induced shear stress imaging with micron-resolution. The shear stress is characterized based on volumetric microfluidic velocimetry using an astigmatic microscopy. Since tracking of astigmatic images for tracer particles enables us to obtain their velocities in a measurement volume near the wall, shear stress distribution on the wall can be determined by accumulating the velocity data. As a verification of this concept, we measured shear stress distribution of a contracting flow in a microfluidic channel with spatial resolution of 5.8 μm and confirmed the validity comparing the results with simulation.
