We propose two novel integrations of sensing and processing on the focal plane; they are a compression sensor and an enhancement sensor. The image compression sensor can significantly reduce the amount of pixel data in order to overcome the communication bottle neck of high pixel rate imaging between sensor and peripherals. The image enhancement sensor aims at reducing random noise and getting wide dynamic range. The proposed sensor controls the storage time in each pixel, which results in no motion-blur and no saturation. Thus it is expected to have wide dynamic range, high temporal resolution in the moving area and high SNR in the static area.
