Hydrophilic polyacrylamide (PAAm) was grafted onto silanized glass surfaces with regulated patterns utilizing a remodelled LCD projector and photolithography technique. PAAm pattern formation was confirmed by adsorption of FITC- labeled BSA. Endothelial cells adhered and extended in oriented shape only onto 10 or 20-μm width of silanized glass domains but not onto hydrophilic PAAm domains, indicating successful and selective cell adhesion.
