抄録

In recent years, Catalan vault, historic lightweight masonry construction developed mainly in Catalonia of Spain, is attracting considerable attention for the thin and the capability of building various forms easily without a large-scale centering. Through the experiments on the construction of 2-way arch vault and HP-shell form vault, we clarified that the simplified centering was useful to build complicated curved surface. As a result, this study clearly showed the characteristics of Catalan vault that needs minimum guides as centering, and at the same time the freedom of form was limited by the ease of construction.
