Synthesis and electric properties of (Na,Bi)Bi2Ta2O9 ceramics with bismuth layer-structure

Abstract

The synthesis of ferroelectric Na0.5-xBi2.5+x/3Ta2O9 (NBT) was performed using a conventional solid state reaction. X-ray diffractometry showed that an NBT single phase polycrystalline was obtained for x= 0 and 0.1. Dense NBT ceramics were prepared via ordinary firing (OF), and used for the characterization of the ferroelectric, dielectric and piezoelectric properties. The largest remanent polarization, 2Pr=36 μC·cm-2, was obtained at the stoichiometric composition of x=0. The electromechanical coupling factors for the OF specimens were more than twice those of the other bismuth layer-structure ferroelectric ceramics.
