Abstract

Stimuli-responsive hydrogels have earned a reputation as "smart materials" due to the ability to change their volume or shape in response to an environmental signal. Many researchers have studied functional hydrogels that are responsive to external stimuli for application in drug delivery system, soft actuator, and so on. To use poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) hydrogels as actuator, we prepared "gradient-pore gel" which shows rapid inflectional deswelling in response to a temperature change.
