Abstract
In the present research, thermoresponsive surfaces grafted with high-density poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PIPAAm) are prepared by surface-initiated atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) on silica-based chromatography column packing materials. Prepared surfaces were analyzed in terms of surface elemental analyses and amount of the grafted polymers increased with increasing reaction time, indicating that reaction proceeds in living fashioa Thermoresponsive surface property alteration was also analyzed in hydrophobic chromatography of hydrophobic bioactive molecules under aqueous mobile phase.
