Abstract

Photorefractive effect of liquid crystalline polymer is enhanced by the existence of micro-domains in the film. In this study, photorefractive effect of block copolymers that possess a mesogenic group and a photoconductive moiety was investigated. The diffraction efficiencies of polymer films increased with temperature. Light scattering of films was strong when the ratio of mesogenic group exceeded 50%. However, the diffraction efficiency was very small in films that possess small potion of mesogenic group.
