Passive image sensing and processing for real-time depth estimation

Abstract

The passive depth estimation techniques that are easy to use with a single camera, for use in such as automobiles and for robotics tasks are needed. However, the relation between real-time processing and wide detectable range is contradictory. Whereat, various methods are proposed to solve the problem; e.g. using high speed mechanism. Also, we have proposed a method by estimating sharpness curves that are obtained from a tilted optics imaging. The feature of our proposed method is not using any mechanical structures, and is suitable for image processing, because amount of light is not reduced by using a few multiple images only.
