Abstract

The influence of amplitude and pulse noise on the quantum resonance peaks in an atom optics kicked rotor (AOKR) was analyzed. It was found that the the quantum resonance peaks in the late time mean energy of the atoms were robust against all levels of noise applied to the kicking amplitude. The ε classical model was used to describe the stability of the resonant dynamics in the presence of amplitude noise. It was also found that by applying small amounts of noise to the kicking period, the resonant peak was completely destroyed and the behavior of the system was returned to the zero-correlation limit.
