C-QUAM stereo AM method is widely used for AM broadcasting. It uses a amplitude phase modulation keeping the compatibility to the conventional monaural AM method. It suffers from nonlinear distortions under multipath environment because it uses a phase modulation scheme. This distortion never appears in the conventional monaural AM signal. In this paper, adaptive equalizers in order to remove multipath distortion for C-QUAM AM stereo signal is proposed. It uses the informations of harmonics of demodulated signal or envelope. Harmonics never appears in the demodulated signal if the multipath distortion is not existing. The characteristics of equalizers are examined by computer simulations. And improvements of D/U ratio are confirmed.
