Abstract

In the previous report "Part 1", the drying shrinkage strains of concretes with various types of aggregates were measured and the specific surface areas (SSAs) of the aggregates used for the concretes were obtained by BET methods using both nitrogen (N 2) and water vapor (H 2O). The results suggest that the SSA determined by water vapor is an effective index for evaluating the influence of the aggregate type on the drying shrinkage of concrete. Based on the result of the Part1 research, this paper presents the drafted test method to calculate the SSA of aggregate using water vapor by the BET one-point method.
