Abstract

The reaction of Zn(ClO 4) 2·6H 2O with TPA and H 4THBQ in methanol gave air-sensitive crystalline powder [Zn 2(μH 2THBQ)(TPA) 2](ClO 4) 2 (1). An equimolar reaction of 1 with 1,4-benzoquinone (BQ) in acetonitrile under Ar atmosphere quantitatively produced 1,4-hydroquinone and [Zn 2(μRHOD)(TPA) 2](ClO 4) 2 (2) as a result of the 2H +, 2e protoncoupled electron-transfer (PCET) reaction.
