Abstract

In Japan, there are no legal provisions for the limit state design of piles in buildings less than 60 meters in height. Guidelines, such as the Recommendations for design of building foundations published by the AIJ, leave the choice of analytical models up to the discretion of structural designers. This report conducts push over analysis of the typical building, using the modeling of piles and foundation beams as parameters. Differences in analysis models for piles and foundation girders are investigated focusing on the seismic stress and deformation of piles.
