Abstract

High-density microtremor measurements were conducted in super high-rise residential buildings constructed on soft soil to evaluate the rocking soil springs at basements. First, the overturning moments and rocking rotational angles are estimated using records obtained at the top and plural locations at the base of the buildings, respectively. After confirming the relationship between the overturning moments and rocking rotational angles, the rocking soil springs are evaluated. Evaluated values are compared with those from the strong-motion records and from the analytical models to confirm the validity of the rocking soil springs evaluation method.
